Having 2 daughters of my own that cheer - I know firsthand the level of commitment that goes into being on the Cheer Squad. Just like any other venture or passion that realizes some level of success - it takes hours and hours of preparation and practice that very few people are ever even aware of. So I love when a Senior comes to me and wants to capture that part of their High School experience. It is such an important part of who they are and are becoming. Or else all of the athletes, musicians, cheerleaders, actors, etc. wouldn't pour so much of themselves into it.
So I was thrilled when Lake Highlands Varsity Cheerleader Natalie came to me and wanted to do a Cheer Shoot. Because you don't pay a professional photographer for the prints you hang on your wall - you pay them to capture a moment...a memory. And these are exactly the kind of images in my mind I can hear Natalie's children looking at years from now..."Look at Mom!" "What was it like to be a cheerleader?" or "I want to be a cheerleader like Mom." It's the kind of images that she will cherish 10 years, 20 years and more from now.
